OMADINO LANGUAGE
Prince Nenuwa & his
people speak the
Ode language from Ogun State. As they enter the Southern region of Nigeria. The
Ode language was the language the Omadino people speak all through
their lands from the 12th – 15th century. Before the
reign of King Irame of Itsekiri people in 1538 - 1570. The King rule over all the lands and people in the coastal areas. The
Itsekiri people dominate the coastal areas, due to the war King Irame launch in Ode Itsekiri (Big Warri) that result the evacuation of some Otonlu (king
children) from Ode Itsekiri. The Otonlu move and found various settlements in
different geographical location in the coastal areas of the three (3) Warri
local government areas. The Itsekiri language was the language mostly used at
then in business transaction and communication in the coastal areas. There was
a saying used then “Omere”, which spread all around the coastal areas.
In the 18th
century different groups of people which have the Yoruba dialects and Igala
dialects now adopt the Itsekiri Language as their language. Also the colonial
administration group all the group of people in the coastal areas in the three
(3) Warri, which have the yoruboid family of language and speak like the
Itsekiri people as Itsekiri. Such groups are the Ireju people, Omadino people and
Ugborodo people.
