EFFECTS OF FLOOD


Flood effects are divided into:

*        Primary effect
*        Secondary effect
*        Tertiary effect

Primary Effects
The primary effect of flood is been know to us since ancient time. When ever flood occur the first thing been carried away by the flood is properties but if occur in farmland carried away livestock, pets animals and crops. Secondly, humans can be drown and carried away by flood.

The primary effect involves damages like homes, farmland, vegetation, pollutants which are carried by flood during flooding, can cause secondary effects. During flooding the current of a steam is high and parent materials can be converted easily.

Secondary Effects
The secondary effects of flood are disruption of services, such as electrical service, transportation system and communication system. The disruption of service can lead to lack of supplies of things to the area where the flood occur. Although the secondary effects are direct effect of the primary effects, which causes pollution such as contamination of drinking water, which can cause insect-borne disease like cholera(kill easily), including malaria.

Tertiary Effects
When ever there is a flood, there must be changes that will come-up as a result of the flooding. As far the river as overflow its bank so many changes will occur and this take long time. The farmlands which destroy for long time as a result of flood will become fertile for farming again. Tertiary effects can causes destruction of ecosystem, town and make inhabitants homeless and jobless.
