UNIBEN - LECTURERS GIVES STUDENTS EXTRA YEAR AND REFUSE TO CLEAR NEW INTAKE

UNIBEN - LECTURERS GIVES STUDENTS EXTRA YEAR AND REFUSE TO CLEAR NEW INTAKE

Source: Wikipedia

The University of Benin, which is a federal University that have Science, Social Science and Art courses. Which serves the Old Bendel state (Delta and Edo state) have lost its "Dignity".
In the past decade students of the university of Benin found it difficult to finished their course of studies in the university.

source: premiunmtimesng news

Uniben Refuse to clear "New intake", because some of them have problem with passport when uploaded it. Passport not reach the side Uniben requested, while others with age issue in their certificate e.t.c. But all this is not an issue to stop "New intake" not to clear them.
After giving them admission to come and study. if this issue need to be forwarded, Uniben is wrong before giving those students admission Uniben enter their POST UME / ATTITUDE TEST data to upload their scores and written admitted or you are offer admission. Why now denying them of their admission. Many who use age declaration from magistrates court due to wrong age in their certificate, Uniben refuse it. I don't no if the commissioner for oaths that sign it is not license to do it, or the magistrates court is not legal. But this same Uniben told students to go sworn oaths that they are not culties in court and stamp by commissioner of oaths, they should summit a copy to Uniben, and it was accepted.

To look at  the issue of extra year for students This is as a result of failure of courses, missing scripts, lack of advise from course advisers and Lecturers not paying attention / listening to students complaints.
To the issue of "Extra Years", we all know failure is not banned to happen, when students were not serious with their studies. The serious ones pass and unserious fail.
Then in the aspect of missing scripts, let be sincere to ourselves. WAEC consult million of students exams without missing scripts from zone to zone, doesn't  create the room for missing scripts. Why lecturers presented with students scripts  after exams have this problem of missing scripts without rectifying it. This continue from semester to semester.
No piece of advise from course adviser to students. If students went to course adviser in an issue, the best they could do i don't have chance for that.
In the issue of not listening or paying attention to students, is the worst thing in Education. According to a student in the department of Mathematics and statistic told Geo-information in an interview in Warri, Delta state. That the lecturers are the problems of the students, if a student has missing scripts and he/she went to the lecturer to rectify the problem. The lecturer will say you don't write my course that why your result is not there, he will say get out off my office. He said, but is the right of the student to asked of the attendance sheet of the exam. for confirmation. So if the name is there is the fault of the lecturer or the lecturer miss place the script.
Most of Uniben students have extra years in the issue of missing scripts. In the western world now, in this time of civilization. Lecturers are friendly with students and asked them if they have problem or difficulties in his/ her courses to the students why not Uniben lecturers asked students same.

NIGERIA FEDERAL GOVERNMENT: NO MONEY TO PAY POLYTECHNICS LECTURERS SALARY ARREARS

NIGERIA FEDERAL GOVERNMENT: NO MONEY TO PAY POLYTECHNICS LECTURERS SALARY ARREARS

The Ministry of Education said no provision for the payment of polytechnics lecturers salary arrears in the 2014 budget.
The CONTISS-14 Salary arrears has been one of the reason for the striking lecturers of the polytechnics. In a meeting with House of Representatives Committee set to find an end to the strike, the Minister of Education, Mr. Nyeson Wike was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mr. Mc John Nwaobiala. Told the Lawmakers that the ministry can't pay salary arrears without a budgetary provision.obiala. Told the Lawmakers that the Ministry can't pay salary arrears without a budgetary provision.
Mr. Aminu Suleiman, the chairman of the House Committee, presided over the issue at the session. The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Nwaoabiala informed the House Committee that the Ministry was not opposing the payment of CONTISS-14 Salary arrears. He maintained that the only set back was the lack of budgetary provision. He also said, ''in this year 2014'', we don't have a provision for settling this arrears. And the Minister had required for a special budgetary intervention to enable us to settle it. I can't make a commitment if the minister will release these funds in July.
Mr. Nwaobiala say the Minister needs to consult with the Minister of Labour and Secretary General to the Federation, so that we can know how we can get the Funds.
But much depend on the release of the white paper on the visitation panels to the Polytechnics by the federal government.
The white paper is yet to be release by federal government not that the Ministry was sitting on it. This white paper contains issues that are generic. Mr. Nwaobiala say we are waiting for the government to say we endorse this or we reject this recommendation. But we are putting pressure for the white paper to be released, within this week or next week, the white paper will be released he said.
House moved to intervene to the protest letter, ASUP forwarded to the speaker, Mr. Tambuwal, last week. House call for urgent solution to end the protracted strike. Mr. Suleiman rejected the government's act that there was no money to pay the lecturers and advised both to tell the truth.
