Housing problems: This is a major problem facing Nigerians. Shortage of accommodation in towns rush up rental rates high and house owners put in one-two years (fixed duration) payment fees plus agent fees before the renter can pack in to stay. This as being so on for many years now and up to date, places like warri (collect two years), Port - Harcourt (collect two years), Lagos (collect one year), Enugu (collect one- two years) etc.

However, some of these houses are built for comfort and some are not. But due to the growth of the city or towns, also the opportunities that are available in towns make the rural dwellers to migrate to search for employment in towns.

As the Urban population growth increases many where force to live in slums, ghettos and squatter, because there is no choice.

Building materials: The cost of building materials are high everyday in market. This too make rental rates high and the cost of land is high, so is not easy for common man who wish to built a house to live in to do.

Many who can afford to built due to the high cost of building materials and land, they high their price of house rent. The best the government could do it to regulate the price of building materials and land.
